“It’s time to wake up,” Degas said softly, but Lamia already was.

She opened her eyes to see him standing in the doorway. “I felt you come in,” she said. “I couldn’t sleep anyway, not with this much adrenaline. I’m practically shaking. I keep reliving my neighborhood sweep. I did it!”

“And did it marvelously, I’m told.” He moved closer to her then glanced down at Marisol’s body. “Why so excessive?”

“I did it for you, Victor.”

Degas smiled and she swooned at the sight of it, but then something else caught her attention: an abrupt bulge in his pants.

A red veil of lust fell over her vision. It didn’t surprise her—it came often in his presence—but this one was practically opaque. Lamia sat up and threw her feet over the side of the bed. “Do we have time?”

“Just enough.” Degas pushed her back over the bed. Without breaking eye contact, he unzipped her jeans and slid them off her body. She moaned, forcing herself to keep her eyes open and locked onto his. His colobomas contorted as his pupils dilated to their max, but Lamia felt no fear, only yearning.

He climbed onto her and her red veil turned to fire.

She gave herself to him, knowing that after tonight they would not be together for a long time. She ordered herself to not let her mind wander, to only be attuned to the present so that she’d forever be able to remember this moment. For six minutes, she lay on her back as he thrust himself inside her. Without any warning from one another, they climaxed together and soaked the teenager’s covers. Degas stayed atop her when they finished, catching his breath. When he finally moved to get up, Lamia gripped her nails into his back. He smiled at her, and stayed a few minutes longer.
